Application, forms, directions

We accept applications in late spring each year for the upcoming Institute.

For SSLLI Year 19-2024-2025, you must email your application on or before May 31, 2024.

Selection process

We select participants based on: 

  • Completeness of your application packet. 
  • Motivation to be a leader. 
  • Proven experiences as an informal and/or formal leader in your library and community. 
  • Willingness to take risks. 
  • Commitment to the Florida library community. 
  • Leadership readiness.  
  • Based on resume, application narrative and letter of recommendation.
  • Balance of type of library, geography, diversity or size of library per cohort.

Education

For FY2023-24, the percentage of total costs for the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute financed with federal money is 67%; the federal dollar amount to be spent on the program is $70,734. This program does not include any non-governmental funding.
