Secretary Detzner Unveils 2016 Voter Education Toolkit

Toolkit contains checklists for voter registration and social media content

Tallahassee –

Secretary of State Ken Detzner today unveiled a Voter Education Toolkit for the 2016 elections. The toolkit, which can be used by voters to help them prepare to exercise their right to vote and by stakeholders to provide information to voters, includes checklists for voter registration, social media content, and “Quick Facts” for the Primary Election.

This year we have been seeing increased voter engagement and have received requests from Floridians for additional information on the voting process,” said Secretary of State Detzner. “In response to these requests, we have developed a voter education toolkit that can be used by stakeholders to directly communicate information to voters and can also be used by voters themselves. The toolkit is available on YourVoteFlorida.com and will be refreshed with new content as we approach the General Election on November 8th.”

The toolkit is located on the Division of Elections website and the department’s voter-focused website, YourVoteFlorida.com. The toolkit currently focuses on voter registration and will later expand to include information encouraging voters to become familiar with their ballots and Election Day resources. The toolkit currently consists of:

  • A poster featuring checklists for new Florida voters and registered Florida voters
  • A rack card featuring checklists for new Florida voters and registered Florida voters
  • Logos and social media banners using the Department’s branded “Get Ready. Get Set. Vote!” voter education campaign
  • Social media posts that can be adapted for an individual or organization’s use
  • “Quick Facts” about the Florida Primary
