The Museum of Florida History Hosts the 32nd Annual Children’s Day

The Museum of Florida History in downtown Tallahassee is hosting the 32nd Annual Children’s Day on January 31, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This popular event offers an array of performers, exhibitors, and history for the whole family. Visitors can learn about Florida history from the State’s Archaeological Research Lab and Mission San Luis or explore science with the Challenger Learning Center. The local arts and technology organization, Making Awesome, who will be demonstrating their 3D printers. The Pilot Club will once again be giving away complimentary bicycle helmets.

“This is a great event that allows the Department of State to host a multitude of community organizations that cater to children,” said Secretary of State Ken Detzner. “We love hosting this event and seeing the thousands of smiling faces that come out to enjoy it. With the many opportunities for exploration and discovery, I sometimes think the adults enjoy it as much as the children!”


From history to science and face painting to performing, there is something for everyone at Children’s Day.

Live performances are presented by the African Caribbean Dance Theatre, Young Actors Theatre, Trousdell Gymnastics, and many others. Activities such as face painting, balloon animals, and a variety of games will also be available.

Corie Watts, the Children’s Day co-coordinator, says “This is an amazing event to plan. Everyone, from the performers to the exhibitors, gets so excited about Children’s Day, and all of the hard work pays off with the pure joy and excitement on the faces of the children.”
