Museum of Florida History Hosts Announcement of Next Honor Flight

Continuing with the “Thank a Veteran” campaign, The Museum of Florida History, part of the Department of State’s Division of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with Moore Communications Group, the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs and Honor Flight Tallahasseewill announce the date of its third flight on Thursday, November 20, 2014 in the lobby of the R.A. Gray building. Visitors to the Museum of Florida History can write a handwritten letter thanking a veteran for their service for them to read on their way back to Florida and share their experience using #WritetoHeroes on social media.

 The previous Honor Flights, held on May 11, 2013 and April 26, 2014, respectively, transported more than 150 area veterans on an all-expense-paid, one-day trip to Washington, D.C. to reflect at the memorials built to honor their sacrifices. Secretary of State Ken Detzner and representatives from the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs and Honor Flight Tallahassee, will be on hand to share details on the upcoming flight, local veteran initiatives and discuss ways the community can get involved.

Following the press conference, a photo opportunity will be available outside the R.A. Gray building at the Florida World War II Memorial. Special tours will also be provided of the World War II exhibit in the Museum of Florida History.
