Qualifying Period Approaching

Qualifying Period for Judicial, State Attorney (Except 20th Circuit) and Public Defender (Except 20th Circuit) is Noon, May 2 – Noon, May 6

Tallahassee –

Secretary of State Ken Detzner released the following statement regarding the upcoming qualifying period approaching for Judicial, State Attorney (except 20th Circuit) and Public Defender (except 20th Circuit) candidates from noon, May 2 to noon, May 6. Qualifying papers will be accepted beginning today, April 18, 2016, pursuant to Section 99.061(8), F.S., which permits qualifying papers to be submitted 14 days prior to the beginning of the qualifying period.

“I encourage candidates who plan on running for office to file qualifying papers as early as possible within the permissible period,” said Secretary of State Ken Detzner. “Information about qualifying is available on the Division of Elections website and the Division’s staff is here to help.”

The Division of Elections website will be updated as qualifying paperwork is received for judicial, state attorney, and public defender candidates. Final information should be available by the evening of Friday, May 6. For more information on qualifying, click here.
